Editing Blog: Getting the Time Right
I spent a lot of time editing for this project. First, I had to convert the song into an mp3 file. I wanted the video to start a couple seconds later than the actual song, because the first few seconds are silent. I had a lot of trouble lining up the clip with the second it started. I did not have my computer with me, so I had to edit the video on iMovie on my phone. The program is the same on both, but it's a little harder to trim at an exact time on the phone. I then chose which clip to insert for each scene. For some of them, I had to put them into an editing app called Prequel to add filters and special effects. These scenes were the ones in the "fantasy." I trimmed each to the right time and put them all in iMovie. For the rest of the scenes, I added filters that were included in iMovie. I went over it a couple times to make sure that the lip-sync was right. In a couple of the scenes, they were either too fast or too slow. I had a lot of trouble in editing for this part. It was difficult to align the lip- sync with the song while maintaining the time limit. I was a little confused too, because when I planned it, the chorus ended at exactly one minute. So I had to go back and extend the clips a little. This could make it easier for me to play around with the clips and their time. The very last scene gave me the most trouble. But, I finally managed to align the song with the lip-sync in all the scenes. I watched it over and showed it to my family, and we all agreed that it looked really good.
